The disintegrating force is a very important parameter in studying the disintegration phenomenon. In the past it has usually been measured by custom instruments and software, making it difficult for the public to duplicate. In this study, a texture analyzer was explored to study the disintegrating force. Experimental conditions such as pretest speed, trigger force, and filter paper were studied. Optimized conditions of pretest speed 0.2 mm/s and trigger force 5 g for instrumental variables were obtained. Quantitative parameters such as maximum disintegrating force, disintegrating force generation rate slope, and the area under the curve were derived to characterize the disintegrating force versus time profiles. The change of these parameters corresponding to the change of experimental conditions was used to explain different disintegration behavior. The results suggest that texture analyzer may be used as an alternative tool to study the disintegration behavior. |
