Based on Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), this study develops an integrated model of information system resistance behavior. This model specifies the mechanism of psychosocial influence on system resistance intention. Survey data gathered from 284 information system users were used to test this model. Results provided substantial support for the propositions that attitude toward the resistance behavior and subjective norms concerning the resistance behavior are two key mediating variables linking the resistance behavior variables (equity perception, job characteristic change, and user involvement) with behavioral intention to resist a system. Direct relationship was also found between perceived behavioral control and intention. Implications of the findings and future research are discussed. |
