本研究第一個研究問題在於比較兩種常用的資料模式──擴充式個體關係模式(Extended Entity-Relationship Model, EERM)與物件導向模式(Object-Oriented Model, OOM),何者具有較高的使用者效益(performance)?使用者效益係以受測者的建模正確性(modeling correctness)及其對資料模式易用程度的感受(perceived ease-of-use)作為衡量的標準。本研究的第二個研究問題,在於探討兩種資料模式之間的學習遷移(transfer of learning)關係。研究中採用受測者內設計(within-subject design)的實驗方式進行兩個階段的實驗,將受測者隨機分成兩組,各組以先後不同的次序學習兩種資料模式。研究結果顯示,在第一個研究問題中,OOM的使用者在敘述語(descriptor)、單元一對一關係(unary one-to-one relationship)、類別(category)等層面的建模正確性均高於EERM的使用者,而EERM的使用者僅在二元多對多關係(binary many-to-many relationship)的表現上高於OOM的使用者。此外,使用者認為EERM較OOM容易使用。對於第二個研究問題,實驗結果指出,在個體╱物件(entity/object)、關係(relationship)、二元多對多關係(binary many-to-many relationship)、類別(category)等層面的學習上,EERM對OOM有學習遷移的效果發生。 |

The first purpose of this study is to compare two popular data models, the Extended Entity-Relationship Model (EERM) and the Object-Oriented Model (OOM), on novice user performance which was measured by modeling correctness and perceived ease-of-use. The second one is to investigate the effects of transfer of learning between the two data models. In this study, a two-phase experiment with within-subject design was conducted. Subjects were randomly assigned to two experimental groups, each with different order exposure to EERM and OOM. Results revealed that the OOM provided significantly better modeling correctness than EERM in the following constructs: descriptor, unary one-to-one relationship, and category. The results also showed that there existed transfer of learning from EERM to OOM in entity/object, relationship, binary many-to-many relationship and category. |
