Zhuangzi's ’Tian Lai’, commonly explained as sounds of nature, has led to different interpretations among scholars regarding its true definition. Some scholars suggest that Tian Lai be ’the sound of silence’, while others believe it to be a meaning or state/condition. Hence, the present study attempts to explore the term ’Tian Lai’ and its underlying significance. This study also discusses Zhuangzi’s ’Di Lai’ and ’Ren Lai’ in terms of their real meaning. It is hoped that the results of the study can shed some light on the general education course titled ’Guided Reading on Zhuangzi’, and thus students are expected to have a deep understanding of Zhuangzi's philosophy. In the vein, lectures on Zhuangzi are considered more comprehensive. Moreover, inspired by Zhuangzi's way of thinking and observation, students are expected to bring it into practice in their daily lives accordingly. |
