Present day in Taiwan, we have achieved the highest education level in recorded history, while the value of the diploma we earn are at a all time low. In a harsh environment like this, we ought to investigate what core competencies the college students must acquire to tackle the problem of high unemployment rate. Utilizing the Delphi Technique, this research integrated viewpoints of academia and industry experts, constructing the college student core competency framework which contains 3 categories, 9 domains and 36 items. This college student core competency framework presented high significance in content and logic coherence at all levels. The greatest differences between the academia and industry viewpoints were the academia valued much more on responsibility of citizenship, while the industry valued much more on resistance to setback. All experts valued Chinese oral expression and effective problem-solving, two competencies within the domain of academic intelligence. Results of this research can serve as practical references for cultivating college students' core competencies which meet academia and industry needs simultaneously. |
