The purpose of this study was to construct and validate the theory of job choice for elementary and junior high school principal. The framework was constructed by job choice theory, especially regarding work values, significant other’s support, and self-efficacy. The sample was included 404 principals. The data was analyzed by LISREL model. The major findings were: 1 The work value of principal was indicated by growth and achievement. 2 The significant other’s support of principal was indicated by family support and office support. The office support was stronger. 3 The self-efficacy of principal was indicated by personal efficacy and general efficacy. 4 The job choice of principal was indicated by work satisfaction, work involvement, and retention commitment. The intrinsic satisfaction was the strongest. 5 The principal’s job choice could be affected by work value, significant other’s support, self-efficacy. Self-efficacy was the strongest indicator, significant other’s support was the second, and work value was the smallest. |
