After 10 years in WTO (World Trade Organization), why do we still need ECFA (Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement) so urgently and signed the latter with China in 2010? This short article reviews what happened during the 10-years period after Taiwan joined WTO in Jan. 2002. Economic Indicators as well as social impact will be brought forward for discussion. It is our initial conclusion that joining WTO, which was so highly cherished 10 years ago, did not solve all problems. We still need to open many other windows of opportunity, for example ECFA. This review reminds us of both duality and dilemma, which might be built in our Global Trade Mechanism. |
