The objective of this project is to improve the adherence rate of strength training exercises among the elderly at community care centers. Our survey revealed that only 13.1% of elderly individuals at these centers engage in strength training exercises more than twice a week. Issues identified include: lack of exercise companions, absence of professional coaching, insufficient exercise facilities, unawareness of exercise resources, and conflicts with festive events. To address these challenges, we implemented the following solutions. Firstly, we designed exercise prescription videos and interactive exercise games tailored for the elderly, aiming to increase the fun and engagement in physical activity. Secondly, we organized educational courses on strength training, delivered by physical therapists, to enhance professional guidance. To foster in-house exercise coaching capabilities, we trained community nurses and volunteers to become exercise instructors. Additionally, we created posters displaying nearby exercise resources with QR codes, allowing elderly individuals to easily access relevant information. Lastly, we established a community Line group for elderly exercise enthusiasts to facilitate communication and information sharing. After the implementation of this project, the adherence rate of strength training exercises among the elderly at community care centers has increased to 100%, successfully achieving the project goals. In the future, it is recommended to expand this health promotion initiative to other community care centers to further increase regular exercise participation among the elderly. This project can serve as a reference for future health promotion programs targeting elderly individuals in community settings.
