Who will support the healthcare policy? Through quantitative analysis, this study aims to examine the micro-foundation of the National Health Insurance in Taiwan from the perspectives of homo economicus, homo sociologicus, and QoG-based policy feedback. The findings support the policy-feedback argument. If citizens’ perception of the healthcare system is more positive and citizens have higher satisfaction and institutional trust, public support for the NHI would be higher. We contend that universalistic welfare policies would help facilitate social solidarity. |
