The article shows unmarried women have much more positive attitudes toward buying housing before marriage than men. The factors influencing the attitudes of men and women are different in terms of the degree and direction. Marriage resources are important resources for women to exchange, particularly for younger women, and significantly affect their attitudes, while men’s attitudes are noticeably affected by their family’s financial ability to purchase housing. The higher the degree to which unmarried men and women agree on the division of gender roles and feel uncertain about overall socioeconomic conditions, the more they will prefer buying housing before marriage. Agreement on the division of gender roles has a significant impact on men’s attitudes toward buying housing before marriage. However, uncertainty of overall economic conditions considerably influences women’s attitudes. The uncertainty of the housing market has a significant impact on men’s attitudes. |
