Complete blood count (CBC) test and white blood cell differential count test (D/C) are quite common in regular health checkups. The use of these reference intervals is essential to define disease states and inform treatment decisions. Clinical laboratories commonly base these reference intervals on publications written by experts or information provided by manufacturers. However, differences in population, geography, and laboratory instruments can alter test results. Therefore, it is paramount to make a new set of reference intervals in order to provide the most accurate result for patients. The blood samples were performed by the Sysmex XN-10 automated hematology analyzer (Sysmex Corporation, Kobe, Japan). All CBC and D/C data were retrospectively obtained from health checkups from 2018 to 2019. A total 2927 of healthy individuals (1322 females and 1605 males) were finally used to calculate the new reference intervals by using kolmogorov–smirnov test. The strength of this study is that we establish the reference intervals from Taiwanese population and it is applicable to any laboratory using the Sysmex XN-10 or other instruments with the same method. |
