Purpose: The hoard information on cost allocation according to area used by the medical department may cause miscalculation of medical costs. Therefore, a project was proposed for correcting the medical unit area calculation and cost allocation on the basis of square meters. Method: A questionnaire survey was used to target 210 units at Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital, namely 52 nurse stations, 55 clinical departments, 11 medical units, 17 administrative units, and 75 outpatient areas. The survey revealed, the major space costing operations and low satisfaction with information transparency. Then, the main problems were identified and countermeasures were formulated, such as the improvement of the information system design, clear measurements of the number of pings, and comparison of the conditions before and after the improvement. Result: The accuracy percentage per square meter increased from 57.69% to 95%, and the satisfaction rate of space and cost management operations increased from 31% to 86%. Conclusion: This project implementation, will not only result in medical space management, thus reducing unnecessary space wastage, but also effectively increase the cost allocation rate to hospitals based on their area in square meters. |
