In the post-pandemic era, the rapid rise of digitalization and e-commerce has significantly reshaped the global packaging and printing industry. Flexographic printing has emerged as a mainstream trend due to its environmentally friendly nature, low cost, and compatibility with digital plate-making. However, in Taiwan, research and application of flexographic printing remain relatively limited, with various challenges in print quality control. This study aims to explore the feasibility of applying the G7 expert certification that originally developed for offset printing to flexographic printing. Using a semi-structured expert interview method, the study interviewed managers from flexographic printing companies, color consultants, and industry professionals who have already implemented G7 certification. The analysis focused on print quality suitability, color standardization, implementation challenges, and strategic solutions. Results indicate that G7 is particularly effective in improving dot gain control, print contrast, and color stability, especially through gray balance and tonal consistency management. However, its effectiveness in addressing solid ink density and overprint capabilities is limited, as these factors still depend on physical adjustments to printing equipment and materials. Despite these limitations, the staged implementation of G7, when integrated with digital color management systems such as Esko Equinox, can enhance the overall print consistency, digital transformation, and international competitiveness of Taiwan's flexographic printing sector. Furthermore, aligning G7 adoption with ESG sustainability goals can contribute to the industry’s transition toward high-quality and sustainable development. This study contributes by providing a practical feasibility analysis and phased implementation strategy for G7 certification in Taiwan's flexographic printing industry; by promoting standardization and digitalization of color management systems to meet international brand expectations for quality consistency; and by linking G7 certification to ESG objectives, offering a technical and managerial framework to support sustainable corporate practices. The findings are valuable for both industry practitioners and academic researchers. |
