Parkour is an emerging global alternative sport that interacts with the environment through climbing, crawling, running, jumping, bracing, flipping, and spinning, and utilizes urban landscapes as training venues. Literature suggests that parkour can bring about a variety of benefits; in terms of sport education, this paper focuses on the physical activity benefits that parkour can bring and how parkour can be utilized to promote students' participation in sport. Through a literature review, the researcher compiled and summarized parkour-related literature from 2014 to 2024. The study found that parkour has benefits for youth, such as the development of independence and autonomy, training at one's own pace, and intrinsic competitive motivation, and concluded that parkour training has benefits in improving physical, perceptual, mental, and social skills. Finally, this paper explores the practice of parkour in the educational field and, based on actual cases in Taiwan, suggests that parkour teaching should emphasize student participation and independent learning, and suggests directions for future research, including the impact of parkour on personal life experiences and the design and implementation of outdoor parkour teaching. This study will provide sports educators with a reference for parkour teaching and promote the sustainable development of parkour in Taiwan. |
