Background: As the number of acupuncture patients increases, shared treatment rooms among multiple practitioners may lead to patient identification errors and needle count discrepancies. To improve safety and care quality, this study integrated digital and systematic management into acupuncture clinical practice. Objective: To establish a safe, efficient, and precision-based acupuncture management system targeting 0% patient identification errors and needle count discrepancies. Methods: A multifaceted strategy was implemented, including: (1) upgrading network infrastructure for better data flow; (2) implementing an electronic whiteboard system to enhance patient identification and safety management; (3) developing a“Precision Acupoint Needle Counting System”to ensure accurate acupoint localization and needle counting; and (4) introducing educational videos to strengthen patient safety awareness and compliance. Results: The electronic whiteboard and precision counting systems improved workflow integrity, accuracy, and information timeliness. The patient identification error rate decreased to 0.01%, with zero needle counting discrepancies. Additionally, approximately 3,000 sheets of paper and 400 minutes of manual work were saved monthly, reflecting enhanced management efficiency and overall care quality. Conclusion: The integration of information technology and innovative management effectively reduces medical errors and enhances patient safety in acupuncture practice. This model provides a practical reference for Traditional Chinese Medicine institutions to promote acupuncture safety and quality improvement. |
