As regenerative medicine continues to advance around the world, Taiwan is concurrently developing relevant policies, regulations, and technologies. Recent studies have highlighted the potential of cell therapy in treating or curing various intractable diseases. Taiwan is experiencing significant growth in the field of cell therapy, supported by robust regulatory frameworks, pioneering research, and clinical excellence. This article explores the latest developments in cell therapy, including immune cell therapy and stem cell therapy, as well as the current status of clinical applications in Taiwan. The critical role of medical technologists (MTs) in ensuring the quality and safety of cell therapy products is emphasized. Future directions for development include personalized medicine, international collaboration, and expanding therapeutic applications to areas such as autoimmune and neurological diseases. Despite challenges such as conservative regulations, high costs, and the need for standardized protocols, the further integration of digital technologies, such as artificial intelligence and big data analysis, will promote the advancement of cell therapy. Through continuous regulatory adjustments and technological innovation, Taiwan is poised to become a global leader in cell therapy. |
