Taiwan has responded swiftly and effectively to COVID-19 pandemic since start of year 2020, highly recognized internationally. One of the key aspect of such achievement has been the rapid mobilization of nursing staffs from public hospitals affiliated with MOHW, as directed by Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).The author summarized vital elements for nurse staffing issues: 1. realization of emergency response from reserve nursing staffs with overall integration; 2. practice of horizontal and vertical cross-departmental infection prevention during non-outbreak periods, such that unfamiliarity and labor division induced additional difficulties would not trouble during readiness phase and response phase of actual outbreak; 3. complete briefing and support to assigned staffs prior to and during posting to specific assignment; 4. make use of positive reinforcement from various media sources, to enhance correct information and attitude towards infection outbreak. Months of outbreak response with various challenges has made Taiwan evolved and matured into higher standard of infection control. And that has also transformed all frontline infection response staffs, more capable of carry on all these important health safeguarding work in hospitals under safer, more structured working conditions. |
