International Education has been a hot issue in the field of education in the era of globalization. The Ministry of Education issued ‘Developing 21st Century Competencies for Our Next Generation: A White Paper on International Education for Primary and Secondary Schools’ to promote international education in primary and secondary schools in 2011. Meanwhile, the concern of international competencies among school teachers begins to emerge. From the academic year of 2016, the ‘Borderless Teacher’ project was initiated by the Ministry of Education. That the project subsidizes student teachers to have their international practicum in overseas schools. As one of the key service providers in teacher education, National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) has been encouraging its student teachers to go abroad for international practicum. At present, there are about 80 student teachers doing their international practicum in 12 countries/regions. This study explores the outcome of NTNU’s efforts in promoting international practicum. Data are from the feedbacks of 2017-2018 cohort of student teachers. The findings can provide insights to policy-makers and other teacher training institutes that have interests in international practicum. |
