The General Guidelines of the 12-year curriculum centers on the student as a lifelong learner who develops “core competencies” of three categories and nine items. Recently, educational researchers have shown an increased research interest in the concept of “competencies” in Taiwan. However, little international research has systematically focused on the “core competencies” in the national curriculum. This study aims to discuss and compare the “core competencies” in the national curriculum in Japan, Korea and Singapore. We can provide some suggestions for the curriculum reform for the G1-12 basic education in Taiwan. |
