A 71-year-old female patient underwent multiple surgeries for primary or recurrent achalasia over 34 years. The surgeries included an initial esophago-myotomy via left thoracotomy for primary achalasia, two redo esophago-myotomies for recurrent achalasia via laparotomy, and a final surgery involving partial esophago-gastrectomy and esophago-gastrostomy via a laparotomy and thoracoscopic approach. Following the fourth surgery, she was able to swallow regular food. |
