Clinical competency committees (CCCs) are an essential component of competency-based medical education (CBME). The primary function of clinical competency committees is to evaluate trainees based on their entrustable professional activities or milestones. This summative assessment is essential to ensure that trainees have met the competency requirements of their respective fields. To ensure the success of CCCs, clinical teachers need to learn a number of topics, including understanding the role and function of CCC, the assessment tools used in the training program, the analysis and interpretation of assessment results. The group decision making model of CCCs is affected by factors such as the number and characteristics of CCC members, shared mental models, team leadership, and information sharing. Therefore, these factors need to be considered in the design of faculty development activities. Although many teaching hospitals in Taiwan have implemented CCCs, there have been no reports of faculty development activities with clear results. Our faculty development team aims to train clinical teachers from family medicine residency training hospitals nationwide through the CCC simulation workshop. It has been assessed that this workshop can significantly improve the ability of clinical teachers to participate in CCCs. It is of reference value for further promotion of CCC faculty development activities in the future. |
