In this paper, the titanium dioxide (TiO2) sensing membrane, fabricated by sol gel technology, was used as the pH-sensing layer of ion selective electrode (ISE). The objective of this research is the preparation of titanium dioxide materials by sol-gel methods using Ti(OBu)4 as the precursor. In this study, in order to prepare the titanium dioxide by the sol gel method, a sol solution was previously prepared. In a typical preparation, the precursor Ti(OBu)4 was mixed in ethyl alcohol solution and added to the acetylacetone surfactant solution with vigorous stirring. The solution was stirred until homogeneous. The ethanol, HNO3 and D.I. water were then added under stirring. Then we can obtain the sol of titanium dioxide and we fabricated a titanium dioxide sensing layer on the ITO glass by spin coating method, which is a simple and useful technique for preparing composite membranes with a very thin but dense top layer of the ITO glass substrate. In order to examine the sensitivity of the TiO2 films applied to the ISE We measured the IDS-VG curves of the titanium dioxide of the ISE device in the pH buffer solutions that have different pH values by the Keithley 236 Instrument. By the experimental results, we can obtain the pH sensitivities of the TiO2 sensing membrane of the ion selective electrode prepared by sol gel spin coating method, which is 57.35mV/pH from pH 1 to pH 11 at room temperature. |
