This study aims to perform a statistical analysis of news coverages related to the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) in 2023, and to identify the top ten news events to understand the public’s focus on specific issues. Among these top ten news events, seven are related to food affairs, accounting for 75% of the total news coverage. Notably,“foodborne illness incidents”became a hot topic for the first time. Further analysis revealed that“product liability insurance”was the most concerned issue among the public in relation to this topic . In terms of pharmaceutical topics,“drug shortage management”showed increased attention, with discussions focusing on alternative options to drugs in shortage and promoting the use of generic drugs to enhance the stability of drug supply. The results of this study are valuable in identifying risk factors related to food, drugs, medical devices and cosmetics, grasping the focus of public attention, and providing feedback for policy-making. |
