Patients undergoing hemodialysis frequently exhibit limited health literacy, potentially leading to suboptimal medication adherence, increased hospitalization rates, and elevated mortality risk. This study leveraged web crawlers to curate personalized health education content, which was delivered via a communication application to improve disease literacy among hemodialysis patients. Over a four-week intervention, 19 patients participated, with pre- and post-intervention assessments conducted using a health literacy questionnaire specifically for Taiwanese hemodialysis patients. Results indicated that personalized health education significantly improved patients' questionnaire scores from an average of 17.84 to 19.58 while reducing the error rate from 32% to 25%. Notably, the most substantial gains were observed in Functional Literacy. Furthermore, even patients with lower initial digital health literacy demonstrated marked improvements in hemodialysis-related knowledge postintervention. Initially, there was a significant correlation between digital proficiency and pre-intervention scores; however, this correlation diminished post-intervention. This study highlights the critical role of personalized health education in enhancing hemodialysis patients’health literacy and suggests further research to optimize such interventions for improving patient health and well-being. |
