As the pandemic of the corona virus(COVID-19)began to spread in late 2019, some countries issued COVID-19 prevention stamps(hereinafter referred to as ''COVID-19 stamps'')to promote epidemic prevention and raise funds. The impressive scenes of characters in various industries engaged in the fight against the epidemic are shown within the COVID-19 stamp images, however, there is no systematic research yet. Hence, based on the COVID-19 stamps issued by postal agencies across Asia since 2020, this study analyses and summarizes the characteristics, function, and significance of the roles played by epidemic prevention participants in these COVID-19 stamp pictorial design through the methods of iconology, visual content analysis, and grounded theory. |
