Insights From a Mass Vaccination Drive Led by a Medical Center in Southern Taiwan

新冠肺炎疫情流行快速席捲全球，而「疫苗」是最佳的防疫對策。為提升全體國民防疫力，本院於2021年6月首次接手新冠疫苗大型注射任務。由於外出支援之人力大多無相關社區疫苗支援經驗，亦無相關流程準則參考。本院立即擬訂策略，包含：擬定注射站作業流程；行前教育訓練；製作教戰手冊及備物確認單等，使同仁在接到任務時，有標準流程可循。同一時間,本院亦優化資訊系統，縮短人工花費時間、減少醫療人力，並提升民眾疫苗施打效率。自2021年6月4日至2022年7月3日，本院已支援212場次社區疫苗，共注射331,888人次，啟動大批醫院人力資源，並與政府單位相互配合，使得每一場社區疫苗注射站任務都能順利完成。期望本院社區疫苗注射相關經驗，可提供各醫療院所做為未來因應之參考。

The rapid spread of COVID-19 worldwide necessitated vaccination as the predominant preventive measure. To enhance national epidemic prevention capabilities, our hospital was tasked with developing and implementing large-scale mass vaccination protocols for the first time in June 2021. Challenged with a lack of experience and established guidelines for mass vaccination, our hospital swiftly formulated strategies to meet the urgent public health demand. These strategies included developing operating procedures for vaccination stations, providing preprogram training for staff, and creating operational manuals and equipment confirmation sheets to ensure adherence to standardized processes. In addition, information systems were optimized to reduce labor time, minimize medical staff requirements, and increase vaccination efficiency. Between June 4, 2021, and July 3, 2022, our hospital supported 212 vaccination stations and administered vaccines to 331,888 individuals. During this period, a substantial number of hospital staff mobilized and worked collaboratively with governmental units to ensure successful operations at each vaccination station. Our insights pertaining to the development and implementation of these large-scale mass vaccination protocols can guide future epidemic responses in other medical centers.
