This case report describes the experiences of caring a female adolescent diagnosed with meningitis through an inter-professional approach. The care period extended from December 14, 2018, to January 31, 2019, during which we utilized Gordon's 11 functional health patterns assessment to gather and analyze case data through interviews, observations, and physical assessments. The patient's health issues were identified as impaired physical mobility, compromised spontaneous ventilation, and anxiety. Throughout the nursing process, we devised a comprehensive care plan for both the patient and her family by engaging in inter-professional collaboration. Subsequently, we guided the patient through a rehabilitation program and employed effective strategies to alleviate her anxiety. These interventions aimed to strengthen her respiratory muscles and eventually remove the tracheostomy tube. Ultimately, the patient demonstrated remarkable progress, enabling her to walk home with support upon her hospital discharge. This experience serves as a valuable reference for future nursing care scenarios with similar challenges and conditions. |
