Purpose: The aim of this study is to analyze the three technical stages of Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha in the top tournaments of 2021 mixed doubles table tennis. The objectives are as follows: 1) Analyze the scoring rate and usage rate of the serving and attacking stage for Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha. 2) Analyze the scoring rate and usage rate of the receiving and attacking stage for Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha. 3) Analyze the scoring rate and usage rate of the neutral rally stage for Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha. 4) Evaluate and compare the average scoring rate and usage rate of the three technical stages during their matches. Methodology: The study focuses on Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha, and it involves analyzing three international matches played by them in 2021 through online videos. The technical analysis record form proposed by Chinese scholars Wu Huanqun and Li Zhenbiao (1990) is utilized for data collection and analysis, yielding the research results. Results: In the three matches, the usage rate of the serving and attacking stage for Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha is 27%, with a performance evaluation of ''pass. '' However, the scoring rate is 54%, resulting in a performance evaluation of ''fail. '' The receiving and attacking stage has a usage rate of 37% and a scoring rate of 35%, both receiving a performance evaluation of ''pass. '' The neutral rally stage has a usage rate of 36% and a scoring rate of 63%, with performance evaluations of ''fail'' and ''excellent,'' respectively. Conclusion: Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha struggle to score effectively in the serving and attacking stages and the receiving and attacking stages, which often leads the matches to the neutral rally stage where they excel. The results indicate that their scoring rate in the neutral rally stage is excellent, suggesting that prolonging the matches to this stage could be a key factor in their victories. Recommendations: 1) Considering Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha's exceptional performance in the neutral rally stage compared to other players, they could focus on attacking the opponent's weak points during the first four strokes to disrupt their rhythm and capitalize on their strengths. 2) Future research should consider including the study of serving spin as it may reveal differences in technical and tactical approaches for Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha. 3) Additionally, investigating their receiving techniques such as push, flick, chop, and lob could offer further insights into their strategies and performances. |
