Leveraging Resources: Chiher’s Journey to Digital Transformation

其禾實業為一個電梯製造、機板研發、與維保服務的中小型企業。其禾期望引進數位科技以提高競爭地位，但中小企業有限的資源，讓它在取得數位轉型技術與能力上產生困境。本教學個案描述其禾如何在資源有限的狀態下進行數位轉型。其禾以各式資源編排開發通報系統eKeeper、累積大量電梯運轉數據；電梯運轉數據成為一項新資源來優化內部營運或推出新服務。本個案以資源編排為理論視角，分析其禾在四個轉型歷程如何編排資源以取得相關的能力、達到企業效益。本個案讓學生了解中小企業數位轉型的困難，及如何編排資源克服數位能力的缺憾，以達成策略目的。本個案的貢獻為以其禾的案例，來提供資源相對缺乏的中小企業在進行數位轉型的切入點與啟發。

Chiher is a small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) that provides elevator manufacturing, control panel R&D, repair, and maintenance services. Chiher introduced digital technologies with the expectation of improving competitive advantage. However, the constrained resources limited it in acquiring the digital capabilities necessary for digital transformation. This instructional case describes how Chiher orchestrates its limited resources for digital transformation. Chiher leveraged resources to develop the eKeeper system to monitor the operation of its elevators. The large number of elevator operation data accumulated on eKeeper became a new resource for optimizing Chiher’s internal operations or launching new services. This case applies resource orchestration as a theoretical lens to analyze how an SME can orchestrate resources to obtain new capabilities and achieve the enterprise’s value. This case enables students to understand the challenges of digital transformation in SMEs and how to orchestrate resources to overcome the lack of digital capabilities to achieve strategic goals. This instructional case inspires relatively resource-poor SMEs by providing an entry point when implementing digital transformation.
