Singing bowl is an ancient sound therapy that changes the physical and mental state of the human body and the energy field. This is achieved by gently running a mallet around the outer edge of the bowl, producing harmonious sound waves and vibrations. Based on physiological, psychological , cultural, religious, and spiritual reasons, singing bowls are commonly used in meditation, yoga, mind-body-spirit therapy, and other practices. Therefore, singing bowl is also described as singing bowl therapy. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the changes in aura, chakra and human energy in subjects caused by singing bowl therapy, as well as to use qualitative interviews to understand the impact of singing bowl therapy on sensory awareness. This study was reviewed and approved by the Institutional Review Board before implementation. A total of 32 subjects participated in this study. After the mode of“placing the bowl on the head for striking,”the sound was tested in the cross direction to strengthen the weak resonance area of the sound. Three minutes after bowl striking, the pre- and post-test values of the subjects’aura light were statistically analyzed using the paired t-test. The results showed a significant increase(4.5±2.0 V.S 6.8±2.7, p<0.0001). Moreover, the results of the qualitative interviews showed that singing bowl therapy enabled the subjects to achieve inner peace, physical and mental relaxation and overall comfort, as well as triggered psychological phenomena such as dissociation and image reconstruction. This study attempts to use the 25 Perfect Penetration Dharma ofŚūraṅgama Sūtra as the theoretical framework of sensory awareness to explain these phenomena. This study believes that when the ears come into contact with sound, in addition to triggering ear consciousness, it may also trigger awareness of other six senses. This can explain why some cases can produce eye consciousness and body consciousness reactions, manifested as visual and body consciousness, which is manifested as visual and physical awareness. However, nose consciousness and tongue consciousness do not show similar reactions. Future studies are still required to perform further in-depth investigations to more comprehensively understand the impact of singing bowl therapy on aura, Chakra, and sensory awareness, as well as its mechanism. |
