Advanced endometrial carcinoma patients usually are treated by aggressive cytoreductive surgery, followed by adjuvant chemotherapy. However, the prognosis of patients that cannot undergo surgery is extremely poor. Preoperative reduction of tumor burden by chemotherapy can facilitate surgery in patients previously considered to have and unresectable disease or metastatic lesions. Neoadjivant chemotherapy followed by interval cytoreductive surgery represents aviable alternative to primary cytoreductive surgery in select patients with advanced endometrial cancer, those patients who undergo interval cytoreductive surgery experience improved cytoreduction and decreased perioperative and postoperative complications. |
