因應台灣朝向國際化發展需要，行政院會於10月18日通過10年以來最大幅度「私立學校法」修正草案，開放外國人士可以擔任由外國人或依法律認許的外國法人在台所申設私立高級中等以上學校的校長；以及允許私立高級中等以下學校，經學校主管機關核准後，得附設外國課程部或班，開設非本國課程，以紓解境外來台工作人員子女教育問題。修正案將送請立法院審議通過後實施。

On Oct. 18, the Executive Yuan approved the most extensive revision of the Private School Law in a decade. One of the provisions of the revision, which was formulated in response to Taiwan’s move toward internationalization, allows foreign nationals to serve as principals of schools at the senior high level and above that have been established in Taiwan by foreigners or legally recognized foreign institutions. It also permits private schools at the senior high level and below to set up, with the approval of the competent authority, attached foreign curriculum departments or classes and to establish non-Taiwanese curricula to help alleviate the problem of education for the children of people who come from abroad to work in Taiwan. The revision will be implemented after it is passed by the Legislative Yuan.
