The success of S&T development in India can be largely attributed to the great efforts made by the government in planning the modernization and upgrading of infrastructural facilities, adjusting industrial policy in accordance with the needs of the times, mobilizing resources, providing effective institutional supports, and improving the quality of technical and management education. The political leadership’s wholehearted commitment to promoting S&T development, and state managers’ability to harness a leading segment of S&T to the development agenda, have also played a vital role in ensuring the country’s success on this front. India offers valuable lessons to Taiwan in demonstrating how S&T development can be harnessed as a powerful engine of economic development. |
