The aim of this study is to analyze the antecedents of employee job performance during the COVID-19, including person-job fit, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment, which will be affected by changes of task environment. First, we review literature to understand whether temporary assignments by organizations have an impact on employee perceptions of task environments such as complexity and overlap of task, composition and coordination of team. Second, we explore the impact of employees’perception of those task environments on their person-job fit, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment, and analyze the indirect effects of temporary task environment on employee job performance during the COVID-19. We collected a total of 158 valid questionnaire participants. The finding shows that only job satisfaction and person-job fit have a significant influence on job performance during the COVID-19. Employees' job satisfaction and person-job fit mainly come from the composition and coordination of the team they belong to. Finally, this study hopes to contribute to the organizational behavior academic literature and practical guidelines that organizations face major impacts from the external environment, leading to dramatic changes in employees' task environments, which in turn affect their job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and job performance. |
