Stroboscopic visual training (SVT) is a form of training in which an individual practices a task wearing stroboscopic glasses with the intention of enhancing subsequent performance under normal visual conditions. Nowadays, many coaches and players are applying SVT in sports. Indeed, few articles reviews training method, application situation, and training effect on SVT. Therefore, the purpose of this study conducted a systematic literature review on (1) the effectiveness of wearing stroboscopic glasses; (2) the acute effects after SVT training; (3) the effects of long-term SVT training. 204 articles in English and 11 articles in Chinese were initially obtained after searching through the PubMed and Airiti Library online databases. A total of 16 articles were finally included to review systematically in this study after filtering out conference articles, patents, reports, preliminary studies, books, academic theses, review articles, non-human experiment articles, non-sports or non–rehabilitation related articles, not stroboscopic glasses involved articles. The results showed that the frequency of stroboscopic glasses was usually set between 1-15 Hz. SVT was often applied while athletes performed general exercises or specific- sports skills training. Sports performances were significantly limited and decreased while wearing stroboscopic glasses. SVT has a significant positive effect on various specific sports skills, reactions, and sports vision immediately and after the long-term training period. The conclusion was that SVT has positive training effects. The finding suggested that SVT could be arranged in the regular training schedule to enhance sport performance. |
