This study aims to establish a design procedure by combining sociology and design theory so that designers can address the opportunity gap using a sociological lens and generate design proposals using the phenomenon of ''living alone'' as an example to apply and verify the design procedure. The content analysis method is used to summarize the concepts of sociology and design science. Weber's sociological methodology, whose research level is closer to design science, has been selected as the theoretical basis. Through ''perceptual sociology'', ''single causal analysis'' and ''comparison between ideal and reality'', combined with the essence of ''spatial adjacency analysis'' in design science, a circular design procedure for generating design creativity has been constructed. Finally, through a questionnaire survey, experts are invited to evaluate the design procedure according to the design proposal and propose a revised procedure. The results show that the DE-SI-GN design program has the following characteristics: the design concept can meet the ''sociality'' of users' needs, the ''feasibility'' of being applied to different issues, and the ''ease of use'' and ''ease of understanding'' of each step of the design program. The comparison between ideas and reality helps to fuel the ''inspiration'' of design requirements and the ''rationality'' of analyzing design concept details. The DE-SI-GN program, established by combining sociology and design theory, can effectively improve designers' efficiency and quality of work while exploring a new path for the development of design. |
