Anorexia is an eating disorder. It's etiology is currently poorly understood and there are no effective treatment options. Recently, research has revealed the correlation between anorexia and metabolism. This study focus on exploring the potential regulation mechanism of gut microbiota in anorexia with a Chinese herbal medicine, Xiangshaliujunzi Decoction (XLD). XLD is composed of ginseng, pinellia, atractylodes, poria, muxiang, chenpi, amomum, licorice, and ginger. It can be used to treat gastrointestinal related diseases. In this study, we established a separation-induced anorexia model and fed participants with 0.1 or 1 g/kg of XLD for 14 consecutive days to observe changes in body weight and diet. Subsequently, we sampled feces to sequence and analyze the 16S intestinal microbiota. Additionally, sequencing data were analyzed by a multiple bioinformatics system. This study found that XLD has a potential pharmacological effect on anorexia, and adjusting the intestinal microbiota can achieve pathological improvement. XLD has therapeutic potential for different intestinal-related diseases. |
