Ovarian torsion was commonly happened in women during reproductive years, while it is not common in women of postmenopausal age (with a low incidence of 2.7-6%). Besides, ovarian torsion with a more than 10 cm tumor is rare. Compared with women of childbearing age, the cancer incidence is higher in women of post-menopausal age (with incidence 9-22%). Moreover, though fertility preservation is not a concern, it is lethal ovarian torsion-related necrosis and peritonitis if delayed diagnosis and treatment. Thus, it is indispensable that early diagnosis, a thorough pre-operation survey, and complete surgery. We presented two rare huge ovarian torsions in postmenopausal women and reviewed current literature. |
