From the perspective of relational demography, this study explored the role of Taiwan Yuan-Li Handiwork Association in facilitating local revitalization through rush weaving. The goals of this study were (1) to examine the types of the association’s core relational demography and the dimensions of place bonding, (2) to analyze the development of rush weaving craftsmanship with design innovation by the association’s relational demography, (3) to find the influence of designer intervening in rush weaving innovation and the attribution of urgent change in the future, and (4) to clarify the model of attracting the relational demography to local revitalization through the renaissance of rush weaving. The following findings were identified: (1) the influence of community development provides an opportunity for the relational demography to increase; (2) the relational demography of the association primarily consists of professional designers, whose value identification with rush weaving and place bonding with Yuanli shape their strong bond with the region; (3) the relational demography of professional designers have driven the innovation of design to stimulate the rush weaving craft and local revitalization; (4) deepening of the brand concept transformation and sustainable value based on the future is in urgent need; (5) the local revitalization facilitated through the renaissance of rush weaving attracts the relational demography into Yuanli, forming a cycle of local brand building and development. |
