In March 1939, the Zhejiang Provincial Kuomintang Executive Committee organized a training class for women’s cadres during wartime to cultivate talents to lead women's movement and promote their participation in wartime work. Most of the staff of the trainers were female celebrities in Zhejiang Province. 89 trainees were selected by local party and government agencies and openly recruited. The training program included academic, life and work training. In addition to teaching, there were also group activities and discussions. The Zhejiang Provincial Women’s Cadre Training Class has formulated a large number of rules and regulations for the training of women cadres, emphasizing discipline and militarized training, and has cultivated a large number of women cadres. After the training, female cadres were assigned to the counties in Zhejiang Province to supervise the women’s training work, which promoted the training of women cadres in the counties and districts of Zhejiang Province and the development of the women’s movement. The training class for women cadres in Zhejiang Province was held earlier, which caused other provinces across the country to follow, thus promoting the training of women cadres throughout the country during the war. Due to overemphasis on party-oriented education and strengthening of ideological control, the training courses for women’s movement methods and women’s work skills were slightly insufficient, and the training courses ignored the development of democratic habits of women cadres to some extent. |
