This study explored the effect of the personality traits of clinical nurse preceptors on the willingness of knowledge sharing. The data were collected through questionnaire survey. Of 120 questionnaires distributed to a regional teaching hospital in the north of Taiwan. The valid response rate was 96.7%. The results showed that (1) Those who had religious beliefs, education above university and position above the team leader have significant higher score on personality trait compare to the others. (2) Those who are married and have children, education above university with position above the team leader, professional ability advanced to N4 and worked in community or administrative unit have significantly higher willingness of knowledge sharing. (3) Clinical nurse preceptors who got conscientiousness, agreeableness, and openness to experience in the Big-Five personality traits have 41% ability of explanation with willingness of knowledge sharing. Therefore, it is recommended to refer to the results of this study. Conduct the preliminary screening and training with the traits of conscientiousness, agreeableness and openness to experience personality to improve the willingness of knowledge sharing and teaching quality of clinical nurse preceptors, and thus improve the adaptability and retention rate of two-year clinical registered nurse when selecting eligible nursing clinical teachers in the future. |
