In recent years, the booming industry of online on-demand delivery platforms has given rise to a new type of transportation, and the driving behaviors of motorcycle delivery riders employed in the industry are also affecting road traffic safety when they are engaged in work. This study examines the factors that influence the risky driving behaviors of delivery riders. A driving behavior questionnaire (DBQ) for delivery riders was developed and a total of 1,014 valid samples were collected. This study utilizes structural equation modeling (SEM) to build the cause-effect framework and clarify the relationship between the significant factors and risky driving behavior. The results show that the work intensity of the delivery riders has a significant impact on the time pressure and the risky driving behavior that occurs during delivery, while the rider's time pressure results in the fatigue of delivery drivers, then overwork and fatigue are the leading causes of reckless riding. In addition, the study employs ANOVA analysis found that the delivery riders of gender, the number of traffic accidents during delivery, and the higher workload had significant effects on these four Constructs of the study. Finally, the discussion of the management practices based on the research results is expected to be helpful to formulate relevant policy management as a reference. |
