The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between personal demography, relative deprivation, turnover intention, career resilience and self-care of Taiwan college counselors. One hundred and nineteen participants completed these online questionnaires with 'Relative Deprivation Scale', 'Turnover Intention Scale', 'Career Resilience Scale' and 'Psychologists Self-Care Scale'. The results are as follows: (1) More than 60% of collage counselors are at 30-39 age range and with 5 years or less professional experience. (2) Those college counselors who are younger and working at private university have higher turnover intention. Those who work in North Taiwan have higher levels of relative deprivation. (3) More recourse at work, practical working hours and positive psychological traits (career resilience and self-care) can prevent college counselors' relative deprivation and turnover intention. On the other hand, the burden of administrative working increase relative deprivation and turnover intention. (4) Relative deprivation is the only factor that predicted turnover intention. We expected that reducing the relative deprivation can lower the college counselors' intention of leaving the working place. Lastly, providing the suggestions on reducing college counselors' turnover intention and recommendations for further studies. |
