From the perspective of a counseling psychologist, this article describes the process of establishing psychological counseling services in the open prison while engaging with the inmates and the culture in the open prison. During the establishment process, it was found that in order to respond to the needs of the open prison inmates, it is necessary to construct a multidisciplinary collaboration. It includes supervisors and all the colleagues from different sections, such as Edification and Education Section, Guard and Control Section, Sanitation and Health Section, Business Section, etc. This article demonstrates the formation of the collaboration, from the beginning adjustment to later reaching a consensus to the same cooperation direction. Prevention and treatment, from running-in to establishing cooperation directions and consensus with colleagues in various departments. With the goal of maintaining the inmates' stability and preventing them from recidivism, along with the respect of supervisors towards professional decision-making, it gives full play to the profession of counseling psychologists to practice the meaning and value of helping others. |
