The rapid development of virtual reality in software and hardware has brought new opportunities for medical and nursing education. A newly developed virtual reality teaching system must be student-oriented. This study was designed to understand students’ experiences in managing children’s seizure episode via a virtual reality system. Convenience sampling was used to recruit students who were nursing students in the third grade in a university of science and technology and had experience in the virtual reality system. A total of 9 students were recruited and participated in this study’s focus group interviews. Content analysis was applied to analysis and extract meaningful words from verbatim manuscripts, and then further to generate important themes. Three major themes emerged which were “unique advantages of virtual reality teaching”, “possible interruptions of virtual reality teaching”, and “refinement of virtual reality teaching”. The results of this study showed that teaching with virtual reality should make good use of its advantages, try to reduce the interference caused by humans and devices, further design extended scenarios, and optimize the operating system of virtual reality. The study results can provide a reference for teachers who are interested in developing virtual reality teaching. |
