"Pear rust and dragon juniper rust are caused by the heteroecious pathogen Gymnosporangium asiaticum, which requires both the host (pear) and an alternate host (dragon juniper) to complete its life cycle. The disease was increasingly observed in Taiwan owing to the increased cultivation of pear and juniper in the vicinity. The pathogen could weaken both host plants. This article discusses symptoms, the causal pathogen, diagnosis, and management strategies." |
