"The pink pineapple mealybug, Dysmicoccus brevipes (Cockerell), had been known as an important insect pest of pineapple and banana in Taiwan. Recently, it was firstly discovered to infest on the basal part and roots of some regarded peanuts in a field nearby a pineapple plantation. The infested plants showed leaves yellowing, wilting, and the growth was retarded remarkably. The synonym, morphological characteristic and its difference from allied species, and the host plants of the pest were reviewed in this paper." |
