"This study aims to explore the influence of depressed stories from Instagram on audiences’emotions and interpersonal interaction. Through purposive sampling, four watchers of Instagram’s depressed stories, aged between 20 to 24, were interviewed. Data was collected by semi-structured in-depth interview and analyzed in terms of thematic analysis. Three significant results were discovered: emotional influence, relationship influence and interpersonal influence. Four sub-themes were associated with emotional influence: 'Emotion triggered by the depressed stories', 'Emotion triggered by the depressed stories based on behavioral influence from each party', 'Sustaining the poster's unhappiness and resulting in action', and 'Lifting the burden and seeing oneself '. Three sub-themes were correlated with the emotional influence based on degree of relationship: 'Notice and see', 'Emotional connection', and 'Concern and devote'. Two sub-themes were connected to the influence of interpersonal interaction: 'Changes in interpersonal interaction' and 'Changes in interactive relationship'. Through exploring the influence of depressed stories on audiences’emotions and interpersonal interaction, constructive suggestions were provided to audiences with similar experience, and counseling practitioners." |
