"In modern poetry, a symbol does not precisely point to a clear object. It must be set through the context and atmosphere of sentences to bring readers closer to the author's thinking. This research takes ‘closed-reading’ to analyze the text. Through Yang Chia-Hsien's poems, we refreshed four aspects of modern poetry—musical, graphical, structural and ideological expressions. The study attempted to clarify how poets utilize the symbol and how it works in modern poetry. Taking Yang Chia-Hsien's poems as example, it was found that situation, object, sensation and action have high frequency of poetic use. " |
