The renewal of parent education in family-centered approach emphasizes parents are informed decisioners, parents and professionals plan and implement the early intervention program in equal, mutual, cooperative relationship. However, in Taiwan, traditional parent education is primary way in early intervention service. The challenges of parent education in family-centered early intervention are including:(1)the professional allocation and service schedules arrangement is restricted by laws and regulations;(2)the early intervention professionals’ perception are not sufficient to competent;(3)the professional and parents have to change the traditional roles. This article is deliberating American scholars and researchers’ arguments in traditional parent education and renewed parent education, and integrating contents and challenges of family-centered parent education practice for professionals applying in practices. |
